For the 2019 fall semester, Capacity Catalyst is working with Measure and Professor Amanda Masino at Huston-Tillotson University to develop and deliver a special topics course on community-based research.
The course will give undergraduate students from multiple disciplines at Huston-Tillotson exposure to applied research as a career field, as well as a service learning opportunity to develop key data skills by answering community-focused research questions.
Through a collaboratively designed curriculum, students will earn credit for learning about the research process and the applied research field. Students will work in small teams to answer key data questions from local-nonprofits, along with guidance from faculty at Huston-Tillotson, as well as mentorship support from both Measure and Capacity Catalyst volunteers. At the conclusion of the semester, students will have the opportunity to present their proposed research projects to partner organizations and other networks of researchers. This course is designed to build more connections for students into the applied research sector locally.

In order to support the Hutson-Tillotson course, Capacity Catalyst will not be supporting internship placements during the fall 2019 semester. Please check back for 2020 opportunities.
